EU: EU and UK barley exports up 63% in July-April 2019/20

EU + U.K. barley exports in July/April 27 were 6.131 mln tonnes, up 63% from last year, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their May report.

Main destinations were Saudi Arabia with 2.5 mln tonnes, China almost 0.9 mln and Morocco 0.6 mln tonnes.

EU’s barley imports were 570 thousand tonnes, of which 500 thousand from Ukraine; Spain took 390 thousand. Spain purchased large quantities as well from France and the U.K.; with good crop prospects for 2020 the new crop import demand will be substantially smaller, the analysts aid.
